The result
Lula won the runoff with 51.79% against 48.21% for Flávio Bolsonaro, about 4.4 million votes ahead, according to the BBC and Sky News.
The challenge
Bolsonaro refused to concede and is seeking annulment over a two-hour extension of voting, Sky News and AP reported. BBC News Brasil said experts consider annulment or a 'third round' remote, since both campaigns requested extensions.
What it means
The BBC said Lula faces a hostile Congress and a divided country. Bloomberg, via The Economic Times, said CME derivatives signalled investors turning bearish on the real.
