The Zevin Intelligence Journal

Chanan Zevin | Chief Editor and Head of Desks

Journal System & Editorial Desks

The Zevin Intelligence Journal is produced by an editorial system of desks led by Chanan Zevin, Chief Editor and Head of Desks, and published by Insightful Data Technologies. This page explains how the desks are organised, who does what, and how a story moves from research to publication.

The journal system is the newsroom only. It is separate from the forecasting and model work of the wider Zevin network, and journal articles do not carry model forecasts unless they have been validated and are labelled as experimental.

Editorial desks

Economics

Covers inflation, employment, growth, interest rates, central banks and fiscal policy. The desk reports official data releases and policymakers’ statements, and explains what they mean for households, companies and markets.

Financial Markets

Covers the four market desks: Bonds, Stocks, Commodities and Forex. The desk reports prices, yields and exchange rates with the time the figure refers to and the outlet that reported it, and explains the news that moved them.

Politics & Geopolitics

Covers elections, governments, legislation, wars, sanctions, diplomacy and strategic competition. The Geo-politics story leads each daily edition, and the desk’s coverage appears on the Politics and Geo-politics pages.

Who does what

Senior analysts

Choose the day’s stories for each desk, set the angle, select the sources to be used, and review drafts for accuracy, balance and context before publication. They also decide when a published article needs a correction.

Writers and reporters

Draft each article from dated public reports by named outlets and official bodies, attribute every fact inline, and keep headline figures identical to the figures in the body. Editorials are written to the same standard and published under the byline Zevin Insight Editorial.

Chief Editor and Head of Desks

Chanan Zevin sets the editorial line, approves the daily edition and is responsible for everything the journal publishes.

Analysis and research workflow

  1. Story selection: each desk proposes the day’s story with a headline, the sources to be used and the angle.
  2. Research: sources are retrieved and checked before drafting; stories that cannot be supported by an accessible source are flagged rather than published as fact.
  3. Drafting: articles are written with inline attribution, newspaper-style. AI tools assist with research, drafting and checking, under editorial review.
  4. Checks before publication: headline-versus-body number checks, cross-desk consistency checks (so two desks do not report the same fact differently), date and link checks, and a reader-language check.
  5. Publication and corrections: the edition is published under the Chief Editor; errors are corrected openly and recorded in the corrections log.
