Operations halted
“Operations at the data center have been completely halted. There were no injuries,” the Yandex Cloud Telegram channel said after Sunday’s attack in Vladimir, the Associated Press reported. Silicon AI News reported that Yandex’s cloud platform was still running in a limited mode that evening and that customers were told to consider other sites.
On Thursday, a drone attack took a Yandex data center offline in the Ryazan region, and on Friday Ukrainian drones hit the company’s major data center in the Kaluga region, disabling part of it, AP reported.
Outages beyond Russia
The Vladimir attack caused outages across Yandex services, including taxi and banking services, AP reported, citing the independent outlet Astra. Residents in Moscow described the disruption to AP.
Silicon AI News said Reuters reported that the first site hit held two of the three supercomputers Yandex used to train YandexGPT.
